June program
Pooling of knowledge on cultural human and social development activities
Objective : Promote systemic activities of unemployed young people - Sheet 6
Origin of the reflection
In 2020, several centers of craftsmen and amateur and semi-professional artists supervised by the MCTU-O Group and its professionals.
Claiming to be hampered in their development by limited financial or human resources, craftspeople have intuitively turned to solutions for sharing expertise and resources that are similar to pooling processes.
The "Pooling knowledge and resources" training course was launched within the AGCE organization, the objective being to pool knowledge to develop local resources. Pooling proposes to approach these processes with method and lucidity to make the most of the benefits linked to pooling, with a view to relevant, responsible and sustainable management. Combining presentations, examples, testimonials and practical exercises, the training draws on the field experiences of the trainer NANA René who has supported various cultural organizations - individually or in groups - in their development and organizational innovation approaches with the MCTU-O Group. .

Steps
In October 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, another external speaker, a business coach, was asked to help define the needs and organize a 1st day of Video-Conference training.
While questioning the more traditional current organizational models, the training will encourage a reflection on what constitutes the DNA of his organization (identity, activities, functioning) before considering the opportunity, then the way in which we will enter into a relationship of mutualization. with one or more other arts, culture and crafts organizations. During workshops and meetings on the subject, the methodical approach will be favored to assess compatibility in order to then be able to model areas of collaboration or sharing of expertise, human, material and structural resources.
The MCTU-O Group method will deal with the different aspects of the pooling process, from planning to implementation, considering the mechanisms of integration into the daily functioning of the organizations involved, in order to increase their capacity to make informed choices. In the training frameworks, various examples are also presented and discussed to illustrate the diversity of existing pooling models. 2021, is the year when the members of the Organizing Committee for theoretical and practical training invite all groups to these training days organized in a friendly setting, instead of the MCTU-O Group site at the events room at the AGCE headquarters in Douala, in the Littoral region, and under the catchy title “How to find actors in the development of cultural resources of young artisans and artists who are members of the Mutual!”.
Mobilization campaigns around training days for young artisans and artists involved in the pooling project continue, and will continue until a success threshold of 20 to 50 participants per group is reached. In practical terms, the realization of the pooling of knowledge and resources can be used to pay or reimburse the expenses of people using their art in each axis, a working committee with a manager is created and a roadmap is written. The head of the MCTU-O Group, Mr NANA RENE, is responsible for launching and monitoring the activities of his commission in the region.
The results
At the end of a training session, the participants will have acquired theoretical and practical knowledge which will enable them to: Understand the essential concepts and the essential steps linked to a typical pooling approach;
Evaluate the very relevance of adopting pooling as a solution to the challenges encountered; Identify the objectives, the benefits, the degree of reciprocity required, as well as the conditions inherent to success when carrying out a pooling; Identify possible pooling partners for their organization; Identify the type of pooling adapted to their organization and its sector of activity.
The teachings
To find a new lease of life, a young Craftsman, Artist, manager, consultant, researcher and trainer, who have been working in the arts and culture for a long time, must pursue their dream in order to grow. It is up to everyone to carry out their mission within the AGCE / MCTU-O organization, and for many other organizations, artisans and artists, several mandates related to cultural or professional development, human resources issues, strategic planning and synergies will soon be created between organizations that collaborate or pool resources to help them progress on the world stage.
They are also awareness-raising agents and confederators of the Variety Arts Machinery, animators of a support organization framework dedicated to career development and networking of young artisans, artists and cultural workers. of the performing arts sector. These trainings could receive in the near future; Financial support from Emploi Québec and is reserved for employees of craft centers, artists and small cultural organizations, as well as young professional craftspeople and artists and self-employed workers from the cultural field. it is useful to "go beyond the usual framework": SME, external contributor, new place. The image of the AGCE groups conveyed by certain directors will also serve to energize the MCTU-O Group and its members, thus preventing any tendency to prevent development.
These training workshops will take disadvantaged young people out of everyday life, allow them to face the reality of their group and its dysfunctions by using administrative tools (Statutes of AGCE, internal regulations of the MCTU-O) and to accept the need for change. They will be able to become actors again in the development of their group by reinvesting it.
